PBS12 and History Colorado’s Blaxplanation program invite you to an evening celebrating Black joy. Please join us for a screening of Henry Louis Gates Jr.’s Making Black America, followed by a panel discussion with Colorado community leaders on the episode’s theme: Black joy. Light refreshments and beverages will be served.

the film

Despite the gains of legal desegregation, this episode of Making Black America reveals how Black political and cultural movements – from Black Power to Black Twitter – provide a safe space to debate, organize and celebrate.

the discussion

Hosted by Gloria Neal, our panel – including community leaders Jeannette Patterson, Norman Harris, and Daphne Rice-Allen – will break down the topic of Black celebrations and joy.

This event is proudly supported by Bank of America.
