PBS12 Announces New Sounds on 29th Host, Jessi Whitten

Whitten to join PBS12 original music program for 10th season

Denver (March 25, 2021) – PBS12’s Colorado-focused music program, Sounds on 29th, is honored and excited to announce that Jessi Whitten will be the show’s new permanent host, set to premiere its 10th season in September, 2021.

Whitten has been a staple of Colorado’s music media landscape as an on-air host and Music Director of radio stations Radio1190, OpenAir, and Indie 102.3 as well as being a regular contributor to NPR and a guest host of All Songs Considered. She also works as the volunteer coordinator and co-producer of Denver’s High Plains Comedy Festival and is an assistant producer of the Narrators podcast.

"We’re thrilled that Jessi will join Sounds on 29th with the debut of the 10th season this fall,” said Director of Production, Heather Dalton. "Jessi is a well-known fixture in the Denver and Colorado music scenes and is a fantastic addition to our team."

As Sounds on 29th enters its 10th season, look to the show to highlight music videos and the Colorado creative community. The format allows for maximum energy and impact while accommodating safe social distancing. The show’s recent host, Bree Davies, is now the host of a new daily podcast, City Cast Denver. Davies hosted Sounds on 29th for several seasons and her amazing influence will remain looking forward.

Sounds on 29th has been a staple on the Colorado music scene since 2011 and has featured local artists including Nathaniel Rateliff, Covenhoven, Los Mocochetes, and Kayla Marque. Whitten will bring her wealth of musical knowledge and deep admiration for the Colorado music community to the show along with her ability to identify up and coming artists.
