about Alan
Alan Domínguez is an Emmy-winning filmmaker and based in Denver, Colorado. A Chicanx
storyteller with Nuevo Mexicano roots, his work explores migration, environmental justice, the
arts, mass incarceration, climate change and the evolving cultural landscape of the American
Southwest and the people that call this area home.
Alan’s documentaries have broadcast nationally and regionally on PBS as well as Hulu, with
screenings at film festivals throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe. His projects have
received support from the Sundance Institute, Firelight Media, Latino Public Broadcasting,
American Masters, the MacArthur Foundation, PBS12, the Santa Fe Film Institute, the City of
Denver, History Colorado, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He is a Sundance
Producers Lab Fellow, a Sundance Producers Intensive Fellow, a Sundance Latine Fellow, a
Big Sky Pitch participant, and a Tribeca Creators Market alum.
Rooted in community-based storytelling, Alan collaborates closely with organizers, cultural
leaders, and folks from all walks of life across Denver and Colorado’s Front Range. His work
reflects a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering civic dialogue
through film.
He is bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English. He is a graduate of the University of
Denver (B.A.), the University of New Mexico (M.A.) and did further studies at the Universidad
Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City. He lives with his wife of nearly 30 years in
Denver’s Northside where they raised two adult daughters.
