Event Details

Red Rocks Community College’s Fine Woodworking program and Collectors Specialty Woods present Out of the Woods, a juried exhibit of original wood furniture, cabinetry, art works, and musical instruments at the CS Woods showroom at 4355 Monaco Street in Denver. The event will run for two days: Friday, December 18, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Out of the Woods will feature prominent studio furniture and cabinet-works guest speakers throughout both days. The showcase is open to the public with free admission.
Out of the Woods will display more than 300 works by students. This will include one-of-a-kind, finely crafted tables, cabinets, stringed instruments and drums, plus turned, veneered and carved wood artworks.

Out of the Woods will be held in CS Wood’s showroom and open 18K foot warehouse.
The public is encouraged to attend the following events:
• Speaker talk and panel presentation on “Woodworking in the Rockies” on Friday from 2pm to 3pm.
• “Wine and Wood” opening with woodworking demonstration on Friday from 5:30pm to 7pm.
• “The Future of Woodworking & RRCC Fine Woodworking” panel on Saturday from 1:15pm to 2pm.
• Awards Presentation on Saturday at 3pm (the public is encouraged to vote throughout the event).

Don’t miss this chance to see work from one of the top fine woodworking schools in the country. “Every semester our students create work that is inventive, artistic and beautifully finished. We want to introduce the community to our program as a rich resource for talent and training, and expose collectors and professional wood workers to the emerging generation of innovative wood artisans,” says Red Rocks Fine Woodworking Program Co-Chair Jeremy Cox.

Kent Mace, owner CS Woods owner and founder of Collectors Specialty Woods and President of Red Rocks Fine Woodworking Advisory Board says, “CS Woods is a unique wood source used by professional designers and woodworkers nationwide. When we opened our Denver showroom in 2012, we began attracting an even larger pool of regional and national architects and designers, as well as local woodworkers and Red Rocks Fine Woodworking students and faculty. Red Rocks Fine Woodworking program is a remarkable asset to the region, and its students produce amazing works. We are excited to host this event and showcase the accomplished work by RRCC students.”

Established in 1969, Red Rocks Community College delivers high-quality, affordable education programs leading to two-year degrees or professional certificates. The college serves over 14,000 students per year at campus locations and online in Lakewood and Arvada. www.rrcc.edu
