Called “vibrantly screwy” by Time Out New York, Polygraph Lounge returns to the Dairy Arts Center for “Challah-Daze Spectacular”, a rib-tickling musical rollercoaster in the spirit of Spike Jones, Victor Borge, PDQ Bach, and Weird Al Yankovic – featuring an audience noseflute choir.
Conceived in the musical hotbed of New York City’s Lower East Side, Polygraph Lounge consists of virtuosic duo Rob Schwimmer and Mark Stewart, specializing in musical hilarity/anarchy. Joining them will be special guest (and frequent collaborator) Melissa Fathman, their amazingly versatile vocalist, who also happens to be the Dairy’s Executive Director!
Individually, Rob and Mark have worked with a who’s who list of artists including: Paul Simon, Wayne Shorter, Steve Reich, Laurie Anderson, Bang on a Can, Stevie Wonder, Annette Peacock, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Willie Nelson, Anthony Braxton, Kurt Vonnegut, and many more.
“Challah-Daze Spectacular” incorporates high brow, low brow, and uni-brow humor. Enjoy seasonal favorites like, Tchaikovsky, You Rock the Howski, I Have Some Nuts that Need Cracking, Dance of the Radio Show Psychologist, and Hanukkah in Santa Monica. PDQ Bach composer Peter Schickele calls Polygraph Lounge, “Mind-numbing virtuosity and rib-tickling wit… They take words and music apart and put them back together in astonishing and hilariously unexpected ways.”
Rob and Mark will also be presenting their “Live from Brooklyn” performance at the Dairy Arts Center on December 17th.
