Growing since 1990 and now one of the largest and most popular Earth Day celebrations in
Colorado, the Fair regularly features over 50 federal, state, and local agencies, nonprofit
organizations and businesses. Up-to- date information on critical issues will be available for open discussions and to take home. There will be many of the long-time exhibitors as well as new faces and sources of Earth-related learning. Kids’ activities include hands-on demonstrations as well as a puppet show on alternatives to the ubiquitous plastic bag.
The festival’s traditional mainstay, HawkQuest, will again be available to amaze everyone with
its live raptors. EPA, the Forest Service, Trout Unlimited, Evergreen Garden Club and Friends of Mount Evans will be some of the headline exhibitors. Additionally, many new exhibitors and local service organizations have signed on to add to the excitement of the day.
New this year, nutritious food and beverages will be provided by Bistro Colorado, our local farm-to-fork caterer, hosted by award-winning chef, Travis Smith. Travis will be preparing mouthwatering brunch/lunch items for purchase. As an EAS+Y sanctioned Zero Waste Event,
everyone – organizers, exhibitors, caterer and guests – will be encouraged to leave as light a waste footprint as possible.
While you are at Evergreen Lake, be sure to visit the historic Boat House, home to the EvergreenNature Center which is operated by Evergreen Audubon. The Nature Center‘s 2016 SeasonOpening Day will coincide with the fair’s festivities and offer numerous children’s activities.
Earth Day and Beyond is a small volunteer group of Mountain Area residents. Our major sponsors are EAS+Y, Evergreen Audubon, Mt Evans Group of Sierra Club, and Bistro Colorado.
‘Hope to see you there!
