Beyond Giftedness Conference XXVII

Friday, February 28, 2020

8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities

6901 Wadsworth Blvd.

Arvada, CO 80003

The 27th annual Beyond Giftedness Conference provides a forum for teachers, counselors, parents, administrators, policymakers, and other professionals to share and learn about a multitude of topics (academic, social/emotional, educational policy) relating to gifted children — how to meet their unique needs, and unlock their unique potentialities. Noted local and national speakers will deliver keynotes, lead breakout sessions, and engage in networking. Featured this year are Dr. Donna Ford, speaking on “Recruiting and Retaining Under-Represented Students in GATE: A Focus on Equity, Not Equality” and Andi McNair, on “The Possibility of the Unexplored.”

The General Conference (8 a.m. – 4 p.m. MST*) includes breakout sessions for teachers, counselors, and administrators; two keynote presentations, networking time with peers, and other valuable information you can use with the gifted kids in your life. Catered hot lunch includes gluten- and dairy-free options. General conference participants are eligible for 7.5 hours of professional development certification, and can earn up to 0.5 hours of graduate credit.

A special half-day parent-focused conference is held concurrently with the general conference. The conference fosters an understanding of and support for this often misunderstood special needs population. Parent half-day conference (9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. MST*) includes morning sessions, lunch, and keynotes (does not include certificate).
