Event Details

Ballet Ariel’s season opener Peter and the Wolf is perfect for a family afternoon outing.

Peter and the Wolf, Prokofiev’s timeless symphonic tale becomes a charming ballet in the hands of Ilena Norton, Ballet Ariel’s Artistic Director. Prokofiev’s clever use of instrumentation and Norton’s delightful choreography create a captivating classical ballet of the story of a young boy, Peter, and his animal friends Cat, Bird and Duck, as they bravely venture into the Russian forest to hunt for the Wolf.

Included in the production are select dances from Act Three of Swan Lake, based on Petipa’s 1895 revival, and staged by Oleg Dedogryuk, Rehearsal Director for Ballet Ariel and a former dancer with the Eifman Ballet and Colorado Ballet. Derived from an old German fairy tale, Act Three of Swan Lake is a cornucopia of dancers from foreign lands performing for the Prince. The Spanish, Hungarian and Neapolitan dances that so thoroughly entertain the Royal court will be equally entertaining for audiences of all ages.

A trio of matinee performances, all curtains rise at 3:00 p.m., the perfect time for young audience members.  Performances will be on Saturday, October 19th at D.L. Parsons Theatre at the Northglenn Recreation Center, 11801 Community Center Drive, Northglenn; Sunday, October 20th at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre, 119 Park Avenue West, Denver; and Sunday, October 27th at The Schoolhouse Theatre, 19650 E.
