07oct6:30 pm8:30 pmAstronomy Night: Exoplanets

Event Details

Join us for a presentation and discussion on our amazing universe and its mesmerizing planets, stars, nebulae, and more! We will be showing images of the star, planets, and features that make our solar system so unique. Then we will venture outside to roast s’mores by the fire, sip hot chocolate, and gaze at planets and other celestial objects through the telescope.

This month’s event is on “exoplanets.” Are there planets other than Earth that can support life? From surveys spanning galaxies, multiple exciting exoplanets have been discovered. Using a variety of techniques, astronomers often look at potential exoplanets and analyse how far they are from their host stars and what their atmospheres contain. From theory to practice, come find out how lively our universe looks compared to what we once thought. Discover the latest discoveries and what makes our planet so special.

Please dress appropriately for the weather as a portion of each class will be outside. Ages 8 and up.

Cost: $8
