Abendmusik is presenting a concert entitled “Abendmusik Sings Abendmusik.”  The chamber choir will perform music that inspired the group’s name and exemplifies its 43 year history in the Pikes Peak region.  With a particular emphasis on the secular tradition of Abendlieder (Evening Songs), and the sacred traditions of Abendmusik (Evensong), the concert’s repertoire will span four centuries of choral music.  The program features music of Buxtehude, Messiaen, Brahms, Rheinberger and Stanford, as well as choral music derived from or composed by contemporary composers Astor Piazolla, Ben Folds, Tuck Aikin, and Daniel Elder.  The program will culminate with the premiere of Abend Magnificat, a major choral work collaboratively composed by seven Colorado Springs composers who are members of Abendmusik.  The concert will be directed by Rob Ryder and accompanied by Charlene Noland.
