In its first decade, the Clyfford Still Museum has made countless discoveries as the staff inventoried and assessed the Museum’s vast art and archival holdings, worked to better understand visitors’ interests, and evaluated the artist’s legacy in an ever-changing world. A Decade of Discovery includes photographs of lost paintings from the 1930s, undocumented and mysterious artworks found during the collection inventory process, and conservation-related breakthroughs about Still’s materials. These never-before-shown elements recontextualize familiar paintings and stories, casting Still’s art, process, and legacy in a new light.
The exhibition will feature expanded information about Still’s earliest years, supportive family, and even a few architectural quirks unearthed about the building. Exhibition text will highlight various staff, scholarly, and community voices to broaden engagement and present a wide range of perspectives.
The exhibition will run through March 6, 2022. Visit clyffordstillmuseum.org for more information. The Museum will offer a variety of free programs and events during the run of the exhibition. Visit clyffordstillmuseum.org/events for a schedule of upcoming programs.
A Decade of Discovery will kick off a year-long, community-centered presentation of public programs, exhibitions, and partnerships. The Museum’s tenth anniversary celebration will evolve in 2022 to articulate its goals for the next ten years.
