Oktoberfest With a Wild West Kick!
Skedaddle over to “Where the West Lives” in Golden, Colorado, for Wild West
Oktoberfest. At this family-friendly Bavarian bash with a Western twist, test out your
yodeling skills during YoColorado’s yodeling contest with international yodeling
champion Vic Anderson, show off your stein-holding strength, earn bragging rights for
the best Wild West mustache or dress up in a Germany-meets-Wild West costumes
(think lederhosen or dirndl with a cowboy hat). Prizes will be awarded for all contests.
Family-friendly activities offered in the Confluence Companies Corral include
mechanical-bull riding, a petting corral with Pickles the miniature horse, lariat looping,
crafts, games and programming by the Colorado Cowboy Gathering, Golden Hayride,
Golden History Museum and Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave.
Hosted by the Golden Civic Foundation and partner, Coors Brewing Company, Wild
West Oktoberfest will showcase an exclusive Munich-style Wild West Oktoberfest lager
specially brewed by AC Golden Brewing Company, Coors’ innovative craft brewery. In
addition, Coors is offering seven other varieties of traditional and seasonal beers. Kids
won’t miss out either as Golden-based Golden City Brewery has brewed up a special
Wild West Oktoberfest Root Beer.
Tasty vittles will be served up for purchase by Seasoned Swine BBQ, Bohemian Wurst,
Woody’s Pizza, Bob’s Atomic Burgers, The Eddy, Rheinlander Bakery and HipPOPS.
Enjoy live traditional German and Western music as well as polka and Western line
dancing with Yampa Valley Steve, Austrian Connection, Camillo and the Primetime
Band, Colorado Cowboy Gathering, Denver Kickers Schuhplatters and Folka Polka.
Admission price includes a Wild West Oktoberfest cinch bag, a stick-on Western
mustache to wear for the day, family-friendly activities in the Confluence Corral and
