Lamont Wind Ensemble

October 18 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Free – $5

Directed by Joseph Martin, the Lamont Wind Ensemble is thrilled to open the 2023-2024 season in a program celebrating a variety of jazz music in wind repertoire, and featuring members of Lamont’s Jazz and Commercial Music faculty.

Remy Le Boeuf and local jazz saxophonist Will Swindler will be the soloists on a new composition by composer Jennifer Bellor, “Bordello Nights.”
Also on the program is “Blue Shades” by Frank Ticheli and “Promising Skies” by Robert W. Smith, a tone poem depicting the culture in New Orleans and the impact of Hurricane Katrina.
Finally, Gabe Mervine is the soloist on a work written by recently retired jazz faculty Dave Hanson. The piece was written for the daughter of another recently retired professor, Alan Hood, and is appropriately called “Habanera for Kyrie.”
